Roman Road is pleased to present Shredded, Alix Marie’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. Shredded features pieces from three new bodies of work by Marie, in which she demonstrates the tensions with social constructions of masculinity today through varied and unique forms of art.
An immersive installation of muscular forms, the artworks in Shredded draw on the bodies and skins of male bodybuilders: a prevailing study in Marie’s work. Mixing drawing, sculpture and photography, her pieces challenge our visual cognition; her sculptures are filled with air and her photographs perspire, at once revealing unprecedented potentials for different art mediums.
